Get a Student Started in Construction

For those who believe that there is a shortage of good young people choosing construction as a career, here is a chance to do something about it.

The Vancouver School Board’s Trades Discovery Program assigns students interested in a trade to an employer for a three week unpaid introduction to the trade. The students receive course credit for the program and hopefully end up working in the industry when they graduate.

The students' WCB premiums are covered by the School District and the students are considered “employees” of the school board during the placement.
