New industry training board good news for construction industry
Burnaby, B.C. – ICBA’s Training Manager Gord Stewart was among nine directors appointed August 12 to lead the revamping of the industry training system in BC.
Support for traditional apprenticeship will be maintained by the new Industry Training Authority, but more flexible and innovative training approaches will also be encouraged where supported by industry.
The other members of the Industry Training Authority Board are:
- Bev Briscoe (Chair), President of Hiway Refrigeration Ltd.
- Barbara Naef, an educational consultant
- Jim Utley, VP of Human Resources for Teck Cominco Ltd.
- Frank Pasacreta, President and CEO of the BC Maritime Employers Association
- Rod Goy, Training Director for the IBEW
- Cliff Alderson, GM for Northern Toyota in Prince George
- Campbell Black, President of Quadrant Marine and Blackline
- Barry Marsden, President and CEO of the Conair Group

Construction is well represented with Gord and Rod Goy directly involved in the industry and Frank Pasacreta having a background in construction with CLRA.
