ICBA in Whistler to discuss 2010 projects

Burnaby, B.C. – The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association of British Columbia will be meeting in Whistler for their annual strategic planning session, with the 2010 Olympic construction topping the agenda for the two-day summit.

The meeting will take place November 6 and 7 at the Delta Whistler Village Suites.

“We couldn’t have chosen a better venue for this meeting as Whistler will be the hub of the 2010 games,” said Philip Hochstein, Executive Vice-President of the ICBA. “In order to ensure the success of the games and enable communities such as Whistler to reap the significant economic benefits, we need to ensure the games facilities and infrastructure are constructed on time and on budget.”

In July, Hochstein helped establish the Construction Leaders Task Force to advise governments and games organizers on the construction of Olympic and allied facilities. The Task Force will meet November 26 with Grant Thomas, who oversaw construction for the Salt Lake City Olympic Games and served as a member of the IOC’s 2010 selection team.
