Burnaby, B.C. – B.C.’s capital city will host the North American construction industry this May.

The fifth International Open Shop Conference, on May 3rd to May 5th, 2007, is only a few months away. The conference will give delegates from across North America a chance to see all the natural wonders of British Columbia while experiencing the old-world charm of Victoria, the province’s capital city. Visitors can go whale watching, take in mountain views and seascapes, and enjoy reserved tee time at the Bear Mountain and Olympic View golf clubs.

BC premier Gordon Campbell will deliver the keynote address on the morning of May 4th. Other speakers throughout the span of the conference will address such issues as the new BC Training Model, effective recruitment in a tight labour market, foreign workers, and other important matters in the construction industry.

“We’re delighted to be a part of the IOSC conference in Victoria, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our colleagues from across North America this May,” Independent Contractors and Businesses Association president Philip Hochstein said.
