Most statistical indicators show BC leading the country

For anyone who is still waiting for the industry to rebound after the dismal decade of the 90s, the latest statistics show us the recovery is already here.
Consider the following:
- BC is leading the country in job creation: 8.7% growth since 2001
- BC's small businesses are the most optimistic in Canada at 118.2 points versus the national average of 106.4 in a CFIB survey
- Building permits in the first five months of 2004 were up 26.6% compared to 2003
- People are moving back to BC: a net gain of over 29,000 in 2003
- BC's housing market is predicted to grow again this year and in 2005
- Investment in non-residential construction was up 3.1% in the first quarter of 2004, leading the country in growth
- Public and private capital investment rose 6.1% in 2003
- All major analysts predict even stronger growth in 2005 than 2004
- An expected budget surplus of about $1 billion will mean the government has the resources to invest in infrastructure development
